Rice Campaign

After becoming aware of the rising threat of starvation in Liberia due to the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, PIMIL organized an emergency Rice Campaign to raise funds for food. The goal for the campaign was to raise $900, which would provide thirty 100-pound sacks of rice for our Liberian community. Due to the amazing generosity of our sponsors and friends, we ended up raising $1560, for 52 sacks!

Special Project: Rice Campaign

After becoming aware of the rising threat of starvation in Liberia due to the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, PIMIL organized an emergency Rice Campaign to raise funds for food. The goal for the campaign was to raise $900, which would provide thirty 100-pound sacks of rice for our Liberian community. Due to the amazing generosity of our sponsors and friends, we ended up raising $1560, for 52 sacks! Thank you so much.

The people of Liberia were very grateful. For example, Father John W. Sackie wrote, "With profound gratitude, I wish to extend my thanks and appreciation to all of you for your contribution, towards PIMIL Rice donation to the vulnerable and Ebola children, in Liberia during the pandemic lock down. Your donation was timely as the children got some food for the time. Again, on behalf of the children I say thanks to all of you for the gesture."

A moving letter to the PIMIL Council from Father Macarthy S. Hne, Sr. (photo below) of St. Wade Harris Episcopal Church in Bardnersville Township perhaps sums things up. Rev. Hne wrote, "Words are inadequate to express my thanks and appreciation to you for the joy you brought into my life, by sending some financial assistance in the wake of my distress. This amount was used to purchase some food items that my family is still surviving on. May God continue to shower his blessings upon you and your families."
