Christmas Card Contest
Each year, PIMIL holds a contest for our Liberian students to create a drawing for our Christmas card. A recent winner was Jerry Kerkulah, an 8th grader at St. Agnes Episcopal School in Lofa County and an Ebola orphan who lives with his uncle. Jerry drew this wonderful picture for us showing how Christmas is celebrated in his village using the saasaa and drums.
Special Project: Christmas Card contest
Each year, PIMIL holds a contest for our Liberian students to create a drawing for our Christmas card. A recent winner was Jerry, an 8th grader at St. Agnes Episcopal School in Lofa County and an Ebola orphan who lives with his uncle. Jerry drew this wonderful picture for us showing how Christmas is celebrated in his village using the saasaa and drums. We have Jerry's photo, too.
Jerry is a special young man, as shown in these excerpts from a letter he wrote last year to his PIMIL sponsor. He reported "I want to do agricultural when I complete high school. My challenges had always been Math, but I enjoy the school quizzing team. I will join it next year by God's grace." (Jerry's uncle wrote in a separate letter that he always takes Jerry to the farm to keep learning about agriculture.) Jerry also expressed his appreciation to his sponsor "for affording me the opportunity to be in school with my friends. Words are not enough to say thank you. May God richly bless you and your family."
