Calling all volunteers!

One of Westerville St. Matthew’s long-standing ministries is Partners-In-Ministry-In-Liberia, or PIMIL. The ministry provides tuition for students to attend school in Liberia, emergency food support to students and their families, and grants for basic school infrastructure improvements like classrooms and clean water systems. Liberia endured 20 years of violence and civil war recently, and the country’s education system was devastated. Most students cannot attend school without the assistance of outside groups like PIMIL. PIMIL’s support from St. Matthew’s and other Episcopal parishes made it possible for 215 students to attend classes in school year 2020-2021.

PIMIL is in need of volunteers to help for a few hours every month. People who are skilled in writing, bookkeeping, or spreadsheet work are especially needed. PIMIL also would benefit from volunteers to help with social media & the newsletter, and to assist at the July annual fundraising luncheon and silent auction in Columbus, Ohio.

If you enjoy exercising your leadership skills, the PIMIL governing council also could use more members. The Council meets once a month, on the second Tuesday evening of the month, by Zoom. Mother Abby Flemister is the executive director of PIMIL. If you can help or have any questions about PIMIL, please contact Mother Abby or another PIMIL Council member through the buttons below.
